Vineyard & Grounds Worker
What to Expect:
Grandview Vineyard is seeking a part-time/seasonal Vineyard & Grounds Worker to help with the vineyard and grounds maintenance at a beautiful, 5.5-acre vineyard, wedding venue and family friendly facility.
Bi-weekly pay, Hands-on training.
You will be expected to learn many aspects of viticulture operations, from planting to harvest
and everything in between. You will need to be hard working and capable of multi-tasking. Position Reports to: Owner/General Manager
Requirements:
- A strong and proven work ethic
- Previous experience in farm, vineyard or orchard work is preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to work alone without constant supervision
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
- Working conditions in certain areas of the vineyard are cold, hot, wet, windy, slippery. Must be comfortable in inclement weather
- Occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Frequent walking and bending are required. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Responsibilities & Duties:
Responsible for all aspects of maintenance of the vineyard and grounds, including but not limited to:
- Cultivation, thinning, pruning, tying, suckering, canopy management, planting and replanting and harvesting
- Erosion control, trellis installation/maintenance, frost protection, vineyard installation, fence installation
- Operation of equipment such as tractors, tractor implements in order to accomplish various vineyard practices such as mowing, spraying, and hedging
- Operation of mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers for maintenance of grounds and landscaping
- Mulching, weeding and general maintenance of the wedding venue
- Operation of tow motor
- Follow safe operating procedures, maintain safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team member’s safety
- Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with other staff
