The Vineyard at Grandview’s new stand at the Lancaster County Farmers Market in Wayne, Delaware County, opens today.

Owner and winemaker Larry Kennel wrote in an email Friday that representatives from S. Clyde Weaver, which owns the market, sought the winery out to put a stand at the market.

They came to our tasting room and liked what they saw and tasted,” he wrote. “They wanted to add a winery stand to the market. A majority of the stands carry Lancaster County products. A lot are produce and meat stands; no flee market stands. It’s probably one of the best markets in the state. It’s very seldom that a stand in that market changes hands. Some of the stand holders have been there over 40 years.”

Market hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Norton among The Vineyard at Grandview’s soon-to-be-released wines

The winery expects to release its Black Jack Cherry on Sept. 12, the date of the Captain Morgan’s Cancer fund-raiser.

The Vineyard at Grandview is a family-owned vineyard located located in Mt. Joy, in the rolling hills of northwest Lancaster County. The view from its large deck is one of the nicer in the region. The Kennel family has been growing premium vinifera grapes – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and more – since 2009. Its winery opened in the summer of 2013.

While its profile is largely premium dry reds and whites, it also makes several lines (Heritage Collection and Rock Candy Gem Collection) of sweeter wines.
